IFC Recruitment Guidelines

  • All summer/informal recruitment events must be registered as a student organization event through Cowbell Connect.

  • All recruitment events will be alcohol free.

  • All recruitment events, practices, interactions, etc. must adhere to MSU Student Code of Conduct.

  • Recruits will not be allowed at any houses other than those designated as “open” during the formal recruitment process.

  • Bids may not be extended during the formal recruitment process.

  • No fraternity will attempt to persuade a recruit to change his decision after accepting a bid.

  • Refreshments are allowed throughout the formal recruitment process.

  • All recruitment violations may be submitted to the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life. These reports maybe made by individuals or chapters. Reports can be made by going to www.greeks.msstate.edu and clicking “Report a Fraternity & Sorority Life Concern”.

  • Fraternities will not be allowed to give anything, such as bid jerseys, bid cards, verbal offers, etc. to recruits during recruitment as a promissory gesture.

  • Casual contact between recruits and fraternity members will be acceptable during the formal recruitment process. Casual contact is defined as, but not limited to, saying hello in passing, speaking in class, etc.
