Student Health Center

  • Food Freedom Group: Bi-weekly meeting to discuss how to have a healthier relationship with foods you love.
  • Intuitive Eating is an evidenced-based approach to creating a healthy relationship between mind, body, food, and exercise.  This presentation outlines the 10 principles of intuitive eating, its health benefits, and practical ways to apply this approach.
  • Nutrition Counseling - Meet with a registered dietitian one-on-on to discuss your personal nutrition needs and health goals. Nutrition counseling is free for students. To make an appointment call the Longest Student Health Center at 662-325-7539.

  • Contraception - Many contraceptive options are available. Speak to your health care provider about what option(s) may be best for you. Condoms are the only form of contraception that help protect against sexual transmitted infections and unintended pregnancy.

Substance Use Prevention

  • G.A.I.N. (Goal-Driven Alcohol/drug Intervention Network) - GAIN uses a harm reduction approach to alcohol or marijuana abuse. The goal of GAIN is to reduce levels of marijuana consumption and the negative consequences associated with moderate to high-risk drinking or marijuana use.
  • Screen U Screen U is a web-based, brief (5 minute) assessment that identifies high risk substance use. It identifies students who are misusing alcohol, marijuana, or prescription drugs and provides feedback and strategies to reduce their risk for experiencing negative consequences from their use.

Collegiate Recovery Community

  • Recovery Ally Training- This training provides knowledge and skills to community members to become empathetic allies for individuals seeking and sustaining recovery.
  • Relapse Prevention- An approach with the goal of identifying and addressing high-risk situations for relapse and assisting individuals in maintaining desired behavioral changes.
  • CRC Overview-Through the presentation participants will learn more about the programming and resources offered, national trends in collegiate recovery and the underlying substance use disorders catalyzing the collegiate recovery movement

  • Get A Checkup from The Neck Up- This free, anonymous mental health screening is available in the fall and spring semesters. Students review results with a mental health professional from Student Counseling Services and can access other resources as needed.
  • Backpack Display - As part of National Suicide Prevention Week, 1,100 backpacks are displayed on the Drill Field to represent the estimated number of college students who die each year from suicide.
  • QPR Gatekeeper Suicide Prevention Training - QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer, three simple steps that anyone can take to save a life. This training will provide the knowledge and skills to recognize warning signs of suicide, offer hope, and refer individuals to helpful resources.
